Windows Anytime Upgrade (WAU) is the primary upgrade method offered by Microsoft, and some resellers via a boxed version, for PC users who wish to upgrade their edition of Windows 7.
Determine which edition of Windows 7 you currently have and then check this Windows 7 chart to see if you will benefit from upgrading: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/compare-editions
(Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties. Your edition of Windows 7 will be listed under Windows Edition.)

You can either purchase a lic key online – in one of the following 13 countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK or the US
OR via a retail product offered by some stores on the high street from the 22nd October 2009.
Microsoft states that the upgrade should take no more than 10 minutes since no installation media is required. In addition your current programs, files, and settings will remain intact!
