Is there a way to regulate what software counts as communication? Ventrilo works for this for my friend, but not for me.

Good idea but annoyingly buggy.

I have service pack 3 on Windows XP

But MS keeps sending me updates for service pack 2.

Q:
Do I need to download theses SP2 updates if I already have SP3 installed, or can I avoid them ?

Thanks a million !

apparantly this also doesn't work for a radio stream in Internet Explorer with Windows Media Player plugin.
Does it only work for Windows Media Player?

I think this is a great feature, but this does not work for all applications?

By example with Foobar the sound is never muted, with Windows Media Player it works.
I tried using different foobar output settings.

In both scenario's I use Office Communicator to place a call.
How is it possible that applications should implement this feature? The OS should dictate this?

I have a dell D800 as well, 2gB of ram, 2.1 Ghz processor. What bothers me is the Nvidia GeForce 5200go card. Vista had full support, including for Aero, but windows 7 test says it doesn't know the card. I can get around that?

hi Marc - great post. I'm doing exactly the same thing and upgrading my d800 to win7. Only problem is, when i try and install the vid drivers the setup program tells me it's for winXP and above. After a small laugh - i'm now stuck! did you have this problem? any way round it? (i've tried getting windows to look at the folder directly to update the driver via device manager but no luck)

I am having the same issue with the USB drivers for this exact same laptop. It does not show as compatible with Windows 7 on Dell's website and I assume that is because of the USB drivers. Has anyone been able to get this issue fixed as of yet?

I have the same laptop, I also installed Windows 7 and had no problems... Except when I connect some USB devices, in device manager the Intel 82801 throw up an error. Anyone else had the same issue, and have you fixed it...?

Cool! Thanks! I have been trying quite a few tricks without success... I also have problems installing/updating .NET Framework 1.1 on this machine. not sure if related as well.

I have HP 2530p with this problem and I removed the preloaded Antivirus and used Symantec AV for a while and decided to go with MSE.
